FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS REGARDING VOLLEYBALL CLINICS

I.        How do I know which level my child is in?

Under each NLA level are grades to use as a starting point.

1.       Players can be tested into a level.

2.       If a NLA coach has worked with or observed an athlete, they can place them.

3.       Online is our chart and guidelines to help new players and parents.

II.      What are the expectations for parents and players?

1.       To discuss any health issues (including learning disabilities) with the director prior to camp or clinic.

2.       Players are required to be at the gym 10 minutes before the start time to help prepare the gym (set up the net, retrieve equipment, etc.)

3.       Players must have proper attire: gym shoes, hair pulled back, etc. (knee pad are optional)

4.       RESPECTFUL of players, coaches, and facility.  Absolutely no bullying will be tolerated.

5.       The clinics are packed with material.  Athletes are encouraged to learn and build each week.  If they are able to practice outside of clinic it will help their game tremendously.  We have many drills that do not require a court, not or even a ball.

·         You are not required to notify us if you will not be at clinic (as this is not a team).  Please see make-up policy and refund policy below.

III.           When are the athletes evaluated and what do they mean?

Sometimes in the beginning of each clinic.  Always at the end.

You will receive a written evaluation upon completion of the clinic.  It is simply our observations, opinions and suggestions.  The system is not perfect, but we do take it very serious and it has been incredibly useful in helping to build strong players (confirmed by high school, club and collegiate coaches).  If you (parent or player) have questions or concerns we are happy to discuss them.

Players do not need a perfect score (+) to pass.  We try to write comments when a player is struggling (-) with a skill.

III.    Can parents watch practice?

Yes!  As a parent I understand your need to ensure you child is safe and you are getting your money’s worth.  You are permitted to observe practice from a distance and asked to give the kids and coaches space to work.

IV.    What are the make-up, refund and prorate policies?

You are invited to make-up 2 missed clinics at another location during the same session (please let your coach know to ensure space is available).
